SPC Flooring Cost: 7 Quote Checks and a Complete Project Example
Compare SPC flooring prices with seven quote checks and a worked project budget covering purchased area, preparation, labour, skirting, delivery and exclusions.

SPC flooring cost is the price of a defined product plus the work and materials needed to finish the room. To compare offers, ask for both the purchased-flooring quantity and the complete project total. A low plank price can sit beside a larger preparation bill; an apparently higher quote may already include the accessories and delivery.
This guide gives seven cost checks and a worked calculation. The figures in the example are invented arithmetic inputs, not Kermit prices or a current market price list. Request a dated quotation for your product, location and project scope.
1. Compare the same product specification
Record collection and decor, plank dimensions, total thickness, wear layer, backing and locking system. A nominal thickness alone is not enough. Kermit's published 6 mm technical sheet, for example, describes 6.00 mm overall, 0.50 mm wear layer and no attached IXPE; an offer with attached backing is a different configuration.
Use the specification guide to separate these fields. Do not automatically rank a thicker product above a thinner one or assume the highest wear-layer option is necessary for every room. Compare the intended use and documented requirements alongside the price.
2. Price the quantity you actually purchase
Your net room area and the m² invoiced can differ because of cutting allowance and whole-carton rounding. Ask the installer how the room shape and layout affect cuts, and record any reserve stock separately.
The quantity worksheet uses a hypothetical 35.30 m² project. With an illustrative 8% cut allowance and 2.20 m² per carton, it needs 18 cartons, or 39.60 m² purchased. Those allowance and packing figures are examples; replace them with your layout and confirmed pack coverage.
3. Make preparation a visible line
Identify removal and disposal, local repairs, levelling, moisture-related preparation and other agreed substrate work. Kermit's installation manual requires a firm, clean, dry base and no more than 2 mm unevenness over 1 m. The actual work needed to meet that condition must be assessed on site.
Do not compare a materials-only quote with an installation quote that includes these tasks. If the base has not been surveyed, mark the preparation allowance as provisional and agree how it will be confirmed before fitting starts.
4. Define the installation service
Ask what labour includes: setting out, cuts, fitting, thresholds, door-related work, protection, cleanup and handover. Check whether the price is based on net area, purchased area or a fixed project sum. Access, occupied rooms and working hours should be described where they affect the job.
A click connection does not establish a universal installation time. The selected lock, layout and site conditions determine the work. Keep product supply and labour responsibilities identifiable even when one company provides both.
5. Measure accessories in their own units
Skirting is usually scheduled by wall length and profile, not by the room's floor area. Transitions are scheduled by openings and the detail needed at each junction. Include ends, corners or other parts where the chosen system requires them.
Compare the same profile height, length, finish and fixing scope when requesting SPC skirting board prices. A flooring quote does not automatically include matching skirting or wall panels. The coordinated interior specification guide provides a way to keep the three product families in one schedule without confusing their units.
6. Locate the delivery endpoint
“Delivered” needs an address and a defined service. Clarify whether the price reaches a warehouse, building entrance or the actual installation area, and who handles unloading and internal movement. Do not add a delivery charge again if it is already included.
For a wholesale import order, Kermit's MOQ is one container and standard lead time is four weeks, subject to the agreed order specification and schedule. Use the import guide for packing and cost-to-destination planning. These wholesale terms are not a retail room-price promise or a guaranteed arrival date.
7. Align tax and commercial terms
Compare the same currency, tax treatment, quotation validity and payment scope. Keep optional items separate from the accepted base quotation. Ask for the applicable warranty terms and what happens if the final measured quantity changes; neither should be inferred from a headline m² price.
For imports, distinguish the cash needed to receive the goods from the costs ultimately borne by the business. Have the applicable tax and customs treatment confirmed for the actual order instead of transferring a rate from a different country or product.
Worked example: from plank price to project total
Illustration only, in generic currency units. The product quantities are hypothetical, the room area is 35.30 m², and tax plus any unlisted work are excluded. No line is a Kermit price or recommendation.
| Included line | Example calculation | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Flooring purchased | 39.60 m² × 20 | 792.00 |
| Preparation | 35.30 m² × 4 | 141.20 |
| Installation labour | 35.30 m² × 7 | 247.10 |
| Skirting | 24 linear metres × 3 | 72.00 |
| Transition profiles | 2 × 15 | 30.00 |
| Delivery | One charge | 60.00 |
| Example project total | Sum of the six lines | 1,342.30 |
The material rate is 20 units per purchased m². The example project total divided by the 35.30 m² net installed area is about 38.03 units/m², before the exclusions. These are different measures and should be labelled on the comparison.
If one separate hypothetical 2.20 m² carton is reserved at the same material rate, it adds 44.00 units and brings the example total to 1,386.30. Keep that reserve visible; do not silently include it in both the cut allowance and an extra-material line.
Send a quote brief that can be answered
Include the product reference, destination, measured room plan, proposed layout, required documents, desired date and the supply/install boundary. Ask the seller to mark each line as included, excluded or provisional. When two quotes differ, resolve the specification or scope difference before negotiating only the unit price.
The sample and wholesale quotation guide provides a product enquiry template. For a room project, add the site and labour fields above so the final number describes a finished job.
SPC flooring price questions
What is the current Kermit SPC flooring price per m²?
Request a dated quotation for the selected collection, configuration, quantity and destination. The worked figures in this article are illustrative and are not a published price list.
Why is purchased area larger than room area?
Cuts and whole-carton rounding can increase the quantity ordered. Record the layout allowance, confirmed carton coverage and separate reserve stock so the difference is understandable.
Does an SPC flooring price include skirting and installation?
Only when the quotation says so. Ask for product, preparation, labour, accessories, delivery and applicable tax lines with their inclusion status and quantity basis.
How should I compare total installed cost per m²?
Divide each comparable project total by the same net installed area and state the exclusions. Do not compare that figure directly with another seller's materials-only rate per purchased m².
